Please don’t make love to me, I’m exhausted is een humoristische en ontroerende trip vol herkenning en vervreemding. In intieme, tragikomische scènes volgen we personages die halsstarrig blijven zoeken naar kleine momenten van geluk. Een clown vouwt ballonhondjes tijdens een eindeloos verhoor, een zeemeerman sleept zich uitgedroogd voort op zoek naar zijn laatste druppels, en twee stand-up comedians proberen wanhopig een publiek te raken dat niet wil lachen.
Elk op hun eigen manier klampen ze zich vast aan hoop in een wereld die in brand staat. Steeds weer klinkt dezelfde vraag: hoe ga je verder als alles om je heen op zijn grondvesten davert?

DeRonde/Deroo, Tom de Ronde (28) en Nick Deroo (36), maakt filmisch, fysiek, acrobatisch theater. Als kijker word je ondergedompeld in surreële, absurdistische droomwerelden met eigen regels en wetten. Het lichaam is altijd hun vertrekpunt. Ze zoeken voortdurend naar de (on)mogelijkheden van het lichaam om tot een poëtische en onvoorspelbare zeggingskracht te komen.
In 2025 ontving DeRonde/Deroo het Wim Bary Stipendium van het Cultuurfonds, een prijs voor hun veelbelovende oeuvre. Ook hun jeugdvoorstelling Hou Vast (2026) werd lovend ontvangen: de voorstelling kreeg vier sterren in de Volkskrant en werd uitgeroepen tot Keuze van de Criticus in de Theaterkrant. Hun locatievoorstelling It really hurts when your head hits the concrete speelde meer dan 200 keer in binnen- en buitenland en kreeg meerdere prijzen en lovende recensies.

A clown, a merman and two comedians search for air, water and a laugh whilst the world around them teeters on the brink.
Please don’t make love to me, I’m exhausted is a humorous and moving journey full of recognition and alienation. In intimate, tragicomic scenes, we follow characters who stubbornly continue to search for small moments of happiness. A clown folds balloon dogs during an endless interrogation, a merman drags himself along, parched, in search of his last drops of water, and two stand-up comedians desperately try to connect with an audience that refuses to laugh.
Each in their own way, they cling to hope in a world that is ablaze. Time and again, the same question echoes: how do you carry on when everything around you is shaking to its foundations?

DeRonde/Deroo, Tom de Ronde (28) and Nick Deroo (36), create cinematic, physical, acrobatic theatre. As a viewer, you are immersed in surreal, absurdist dream worlds with their own rules and laws. The body is always their starting point. They are constantly exploring the (im)possibilities of the body to achieve a poetic and unpredictable expressiveness.
In 2025, DeRonde/Deroo received the Wim Bary Stipendium from the Cultuurfonds, an award for their promising body of work. Their youth production Hou Vast (2026) was also warmly received: the production was awarded four stars in de Volkskrant and was named Critics’ Choice in the Theaterkrant. Their site-specific production It really hurts when your head hits the concrete was performed more than 200 times at home and abroad and received several awards and rave reviews.
