The Chassé Theatre in Breda is a lively and ambitious organisation offering a wide range of theatre, music and film-based activities. For guests who don't speak Dutch, we have English or non-spoken shows and activities and English spoken or subtitled films. The theatre draws a large and varied audience from Breda and further afield, evoking in them a sense of beauty, emotion and profundity. The theatre promotes both cultural and corporate activities. With three theatres, three cinemas, three restaurants - Brasserie, Gerecht and Front - and a gallery, the Chassé Theatre is one of the larger theatres in the Netherlands. Each year the theatre hosts more than 350 theatre performances, 5,500 film screenings and 100 business events attracting 300,000 visitors.
At the moment our restaurants and Chassé Connect are closed due to measures of the government. Our theatre is open for performances and films.
We take some measures to make sure everybody can enjoy the theatre:
- If you have symptoms, come to our theatre at another time
- Stay 1.5 metres away from other people
- Order your tickets online at chasse.nl
- Wear a non-medical face mask in indoor public spaces
We actually have just one aim - to present wonderful shows and we will not be constrained by national borders. For the International Selection, we pay a personal visit to the most important venues and festivals abroad. We bring any shows that touch, move or overwhelm us back to the Netherlands, often exclusively for the Chassé Theatre.
food & drinks
From serene, to wild to tasteful. Our Brasserie is housed in a historic ‘convent house barracks’; as the name suggests, the building was originally a convent, later a barracks and was then converted some years ago to house our Brasserie, where you can enjoy a drink and dine in a theatrical ambience.
The Brasserie will bring to mind the culinary delights of French Brasseries. Marvel at the Menu du Jour at € 29,95: a different menu each day, so that we can serve you the best and freshest produce of the season. Or choose the classical à la carte dishes which we serve throughout the year. more information
‘See and be seen’ - you can take that quite literally in our sleek, white foyer lounge Front at the front of the theatre. Everything is visible inside and outside through the many glass windows and mirrors. At Front, food sharing is a must. Enjoy a delicious platter of international dishes made from the best ingredients. During the season, we introduce you to dishes from all corners of the world. At Front, you can also enjoy various coffee specialities and a nice cup of tea with cake. Or why not enjoy a refreshing cocktail made by our expert cocktail shakers. more information
Enjoy a quick and tasty meal before the show or film. Each evening before a theatre performance, we offer something different from various parts of the world. For example, wraps, pasta, noodles, tarte flambée or soup. Vegetarian versions are always available. We serve a delicious lunch at noon. more information

All theatres are equipped with an auxiliary system for people with hearing difficulties, with or without hearing aids. This system amplifies the sound throughout the theatre, making it clearer and more audible. To use this system, an induction loop can be borrowed to be used with a hearing aid (equipped with an induction loop or T mode) free of charge. If you do not have a hearing aid, a stethoset can be loaned free of charge. Both can be collected from the service desk before the show.
If your hearing aid works with Bluetooth, we can easily connect your streamer to the system. This service is also available through the service desk. This service has also proven useful for people who have difficulty understanding spoken words.
