The Bridge combineert storytelling, stand-up comedy, fysieke komedie en theater.

English
Following the success of The Horse of Jenin, Palestinian actor, comedian and two-time Fringe First Award winner Alaa Shehada returns with his new solo show, The Bridge. Inspired by a journey undertaken each year by hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, it explores the only route connecting them to the outside world.
The Bridge combines storytelling, stand-up comedy, physical comedy and theatre. The performance follows a journey from Alaa’s hometown of Jenin, in the occupied West Bank, to neighbouring Jordan.
At the heart of the journey is a large yellow jerrycan of olive oil from his family’s annual harvest. The gift, packed by his mother in Jenin for her sister in Amman, travels with Alaa through a series of Palestinian, Israeli and Jordanian checkpoints. Collectively known as “the Bridge”, this route is the only way for Palestinians in the West Bank to leave and return home.
award-winning
The Horse of Jenin won a Fringe First Award in 2025 and, after a sold-out run and widespread critical acclaim, returned to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to win the award again in 2026.
