Blind Walls Film Fest expositie

NL: Naast de vele films en masterclasses die je tijdens Blind Walls Film Fest kunt bezoeken, zijn er ook drie verschillende exposities te zien. In de foyer ontdek je het werk van het grafisch ontwerpduo Thomas & Jurgen en de Duitse kunstenaar Otto Baum, die beide gebruik maken van zelfgemaakte gereedschappen. Dutch Graffiti Library verzorgt vijf nog niet eerder vertoonde video’s over graffiti in de jaren 90. Kortom: tussen de films door is er genoeg te beleven!

Otto Baum
De Berlijnse kunstenaar Otto Baum maakte met speciale, zelfgemaakte tools een muurschildering van 19x4m in de foyer. Perfectie is niet zijn doel. Otto’s werk is dan ook te omschrijven als geplande vindingrijkheid. Voor hem is een kunstwerk niet alleen het resultaat, zijn werkproces is net zo belangrijk. Met video’s maakt hij zijn werkwijze zichtbaar voor publiek.

Thomas & Jurgen
Gedreven door improvisatiemethoden past het grafisch ontwerpduo Thomas & Jurgen zelfontwikkelde tools en regels toe om onbekende visuele terreinen te verkennen. Voortbouwend op hun nauwe band maken ze elkaars visuele zinnen af, maar nooit ten koste van de onverwachte wending.

Dutch Graffiti Library
Eén van de belangrijkste kenmerken van graffiti-erfgoed is dat veel is voortgekomen uit de do-it-yourself-mentaliteit. Deze expo toont een vijftal korte films samengesteld uit videomateriaal dat begin jaren 90 door Dutch Graffiti Library is gemaakt. Het rauwe en authentieke karakter van dit nooit eerder vertoonde videomateriaal laat zien hoe graffiti-erfgoed is ontstaan.

ENG: Besides the films and masterclasses you can visit during Blind Walls Film Fest, there are also three different exhibitions on display. In the foyer, you discover the work of graphic design duo Thomas & Jurgen and German artist Otto Baum, both of them using self-made tools. Dutch Graffiti Library is hosting five never-before-seen videos about graffiti in the 1990s. So, there will be plenty to do between the films!

Otto Baum 
Berlin-based artist Otto Baum created a 19x4m mural in the foyer using special selfmade tools. Perfection is not his goal.  Otto's work can therefore be described as planned ingenuity. For him, a work of art is not only the result, his working process is just as important. He uses videos to make his working methods visible to the public.

Thomas & Jurgen 
Driven by improvisational methods, graphic design duo Thomas & Jurgen apply self-developed tools and rules to explore unknown visual terrains. Building on their close relationship, they complete each other's visual sentences, but never at the expense of the unexpected twist.

Dutch Graffiti Library 
One of the main characteristics of graffiti heritage is that much of it grew out of the do-it-yourself mentality. This expo shows five short films compiled from video footage created by Dutch Graffiti Library in the early 1990s. The raw and authentic nature of this never-before-seen video material shows how graffiti heritage was created.
