Thelma is een ontroerende actiekomedie waarin filmveteraan June Squibb haar eerste hoofdrol speelt en waarin baanbrekend acteur Richard Roundtree zijn laatste rol speelt.

Thelma Post is een pittige 93-jarige oma die via de telefoon wordt opgelicht door iemand die zich voordoet als haar kleinzoon. Ze begint aan een gevaarlijke speurtocht door Los Angeles, vergezeld door een bejaarde vriend en zijn scootmobiel, om terug te krijgen wat haar is afgetroggeld.
