The presidential term of President Mariano De Santis (Toni Servillo) is coming to an end. In the echoing halls of the presidential palace, he leads a lonely existence, mourning the loss of his wife. Before returning to ordinary life, De Santis must decide on two major issues still before him: pardon requests from controversial prisoners and a euthanasia law.
