The kind but dim silent-film star Don Lockwood and his screen partner Lina Lamont have actually had their best days, as movies with sound are now being made. With her overly high-pitched voice, glamour star Lina simply doesn’t fit the new ideal image of actresses. Luckily, Don’s friend Cosmo comes up with a brilliant solution: he turns the planned film into a musical, and Don’s girlfriend Kathy must replace Lina’s voice. A Hollywood film classic filled with humor and charm, featuring the unforgettable scene in which Gene Kelly dances along the sidewalk, umbrella in hand, singing Singing in the Rain.
