10000 gestes
Op 2 oktober vegen we onze middenzaal schoon voor zijn hypnotiserende, meditatieve en uitzinnige voorstelling 10000 gestes. Maar liefst 22 performers voeren in een niet aflatende storm 10.000 unieke bewegingen uit. Geen gebaar wordt herhaald, geen beweging komt terug. Soms grappig en opwindend, soms broos en melancholiek. Een radicale vertolking van menselijkheid, in een tijdperk van toenemende digitale reproductie. Na een zegetocht langs alle grote podia in Europa, nu eindelijk in Breda.

The acclaimed French choreographer Boris Charmatz returns to Chassé Theater! Often referred to as the philosopher of dance, Charmatz is known for questioning theatrical conventions and boldly pushing the boundaries of what dance is—or can be. He has received numerous prestigious awards, served as artist-in-residence at France’s Centre National de la Danse, and until this summer, he led Tanztheater Wuppertal, the legendary company founded by none other than Pina Bausch.
On October 2, we clear out our main auditorium for his hypnotic, meditative, and exuberant performance 10000 gestes. A cast of 22 performers unleashes a relentless storm of 10,000 unique movements. No gesture is repeated, no movement returns. At times humorous and exhilarating, at others fragile and melancholic. A radical expression of humanity in an era of increasing digital reproduction. After triumphing on major stages across Europe, it now arrives in Breda at last.
