20 danseurs pour le XXe siècle (extraits)
In 20 danseurs pour le XXe siècle (20 dansers voor de 20e eeuw) gaan twintig dansers beroemde solo’s te lijf. Werken die zijn geprezen óf vergeten, van moderne en postmoderne kunstenaars, van de vorige eeuw tot nu. Ze herinterpreteren, eigenen zich toe, dragen over, verklaren en jongleren. Zo presenteren ze samen een bloemlezing van de dansgeschiedenis.
Tijdens deze avond tonen we drie extraits (fragmenten) uit dit levend archief. Johanna Elisa Lemke, I-Fang Lin en Julien Monty – presenteren solo’s uit hun carrière, variërend van dansen geïnspireerd op cultfilms en tv-series uit de jaren tachtig en negentig tot werk van Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker / Rosas en Mathilde Monnier.
20 danseurs pour le XXe siècle maakt onderdeel uit van het repertoire van het Ballet van de Opéra de Paris, en werd voor het eerst gepresenteerd in de Champs Libres-bibliotheek in Rennes als onderdeel van Charmatz' project Musée de la danse en was ook te zien in het Museum of Modern Art in New York en het Foreign Affairs Festival in Berlin.
Charmatz bij Chassé - internationale selectie
De voorstellingen in de internationale selectie zijn gemaakt door ’s werelds meest toonaangevende makers en komen veelal exclusief voor Breda naar ons land. In het kader van de internationale selectie biedt het Chassé Theater dit najaar een mooi programma aan rondom Boris Charmatz.
Zo kun je voorafgaand aan 20 danseurs pour le XXe siècle (extraits) een bijzondere dansfilmvertoning bijwonen van Étrangler le temps. Hierin danst Charmatz samen met Emmanuelle Huynh in het verlaten Grand Palais in Parijs.
Ook op donderdag 2 oktober hebben we een avondvullend dansprogramma. Eerst tonen we de korte film Danse gâchée dans l'herbe in onze cinemazaal. Je ziet de Franse danseres Marion Barbeau een solo opvoeren bestaande uit verschillende fragmenten van Charmatz’ choreografie Levée des conflits. Hierna volgt het hoogtepunt: de hypnotiserende, meditatieve en uitzinnige voorstelling 10000 gestes, met maar liefst meer dan 20 performers.

The celebrated French choreographer Boris Charmatz invited twenty dancers to reinterpret iconic dance solos from the past century. Together, they present an anthology of dance history. This evening we show three extracts (fragments) from this living archive.
In 20 danseurs pour le XXe siècle (20 Dancers for the 20th Century), twenty dancers take on famous solos – works that have been praised or forgotten – by modern and postmodern artists, from the last century up to today. They reinterpret, appropriate, transmit, explain, and juggle with them. Together, they present an anthology of dance history.
This evening we show three extracts (fragments) from this living archive. Johanna Elisa Lemke, I-Fang Lin and Julien Monty, will present solos from their careers, ranging from dances inspired by cult films and TV series from the 80s and 90s to Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker / Rosas and Mathilde Monnier.
20 danseurs pour le XXe siècle is part of the repertoire of the Ballet of the Paris Opera, and but was first presented at the Champs Libres library in Rennes as a project of Boris Charmatz’ Musée de la danse and has also been shown at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Foreign Affairs Festival in Berlin.
Charmatz at Chassé – international selection
The performances in our international selection are created by some of the world’s leading artists and often come to the Netherlands exclusively for Breda. As part of this international selection, Chassé Theater presents a rich program around Boris Charmatz.
Before 20 danseurs pour le XXe siècle (extraits), you can attend a special dance film screening of Étrangler le temps, in which Charmatz dances together with Emmanuelle Huynh in the deserted Grand Palais in Paris.
On Thursday 2 October we also offer a full evening of dance. First, we show the short film Danse gâchée dans l’herbe in our cinema, featuring French dancer Marion Barbeau who performs a solo composed of various fragments from Charmatz’s choreography Levée des conflits. This film is followed by the highlight: the hypnotic, meditative and exuberant performance 10000 gestes, featuring two dozens of performers.
Deze voorstelling vervangt het eerder aangekondigde Somnole, die door een blessure helaas niet door kan gaan. / This performance replaces the previously announced Somnole, which unfortunately cannot take place due to an injury.
