Talk: Documenting Art(ist) by MZM Projects

NL: Het Oekraïense filmmakers collectief MZM Projects is speciale gast van het tweede Blind Walls Film Festival. Sinds 2015 maken ze documentaires over graffiti en streetart kunstenaars en festivals vanuit hun eigen fascinatie. Deze bleven niet onopgemerkt door toonaangevende online media zoals Juxtapoz en diverse internationale filmfestivals. Hun documentaires over wereldberoemde festivals als NuArt en Bien Urbain zijn visuele essays over makers en organisatoren, gefilmd gedurende meerdere jaren. Hiermee geven een fascinerende en verdiepende inkijk in de praktijk van kunst op straat.

Tijdens deze talk vertelt Kristina Borhes over haar praktijk als onderzoeker en documentairemaker over stedelijke cultuur. “Their work is about the intersection of art and theory and life, how to create it, to see it, and how to re-see your world”, aldus Brooklyn Street Art.

Aansluitend op deze talk wordt een selectie korte films getoond. Op zondag 10 december gaat de film Juste Ice et Pas Aillieurs in Europese première.

ENG: The Ukrainian filmmaker collective MZM Projects is guest of honour at the second Blind Walls Film Festival. They have been making documentaries since 2015 about graffiti and streetart artists and festivals. These films did not go unnoticed by leading online media such as Juxtapoz and various international film festivals. Their documentaries about worldfamous festivals such as NuArt and Bien Urbain are visual essays about artists and organizers, filmed over several years. This provides a fascinating and in-depth insight into the practice of art on the streets.

Following this talk, we will show a selection of short films. The film Juste Ice et Pas Aillieurs will have its European premiere on Sunday, December 10.
